“Whether poems, short stories, or family memoirs, it seems I’ve been writing something my whole life and having lots of fun doing it. It wasn’t until I moved to Houston and joined RWA, that I was able to focus on structuring a novel. Having LOVE, MONEY AND AMANDA SHAW accepted for publication by Harlequin Superromance in May 2000 was a dream come true.”
Writing for Superromance was a natural outgrowth of reading the line. “I’ve always enjoyed romance novels and have a particular love for the longer stories where the characters have a chance to develop more fully. Superromance and I are a natural fit.”
After writing four stand-alone books, Linda tackled a four book miniseries. “Reader response has been wonderful. Letters are still coming in.” Each book also earned awards and praise from reviewers. Next up are more Superromances as well as a story for Harlequin’s new Everlasting line. Her first book for that series will be published in November 2007.
Linda has two professional lives. During the day, she teaches GED classes to homeless adults at a non-profit social service agency.
Sometimes, her two careers intertwine. “Many ideas incorporated into my second novel, TRUE-BLUE TEXAN came from my classroom. Both careers bring joy to my life.”
Linda and her husband, Michael, have three grown sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law and two gorgeous, fabulous, amazingly smart grandchildren.
