I was born in Vancouver, Canada, and spent an idyllic childhood
on a rural property near the ocean. Much of my free time in those
early years was spent on horseback or perched in trees, dreaming the
hours away. Reading books and writing my own stories was a favorite
pastime.
At school I became interested in the environmental movement and
studied marine biology at university. I took breaks every few years
to travel, backpacking around Europe and sailing throughout the
south Pacific. Eventually I earned a Masters degree and worked for
many years as an environmental biologist.
Along the way I met my husband, who also liked to travel. We were
married in December, in a blizzard, and not long after migrated to
the sunny shores of Australia. It wasn't until I was pregnant with
the second of my three children that I rediscovered writing, and
romance novels in particular.
Suddenly I knew the difference between a career and a calling. I
love to write romance novels because they're about emotions and
relationships, things that are important to women. Finding out what
makes my characters tick, and weaving their stories into a complex
emotional plot is an endlessly challenging and exciting occupation.
My other interests include cooking, swimming, reading, walking,
traveling and people-watching. I love to hear from readers. You can
